Ever since we started the potty-training marathon, Pumpkin Pie's sleeping habits have been whack. She used to obediently go to sleep at 7:00pm, and wake up around 7:15am. She would take a good 2 to 3 hour nap in the afternoon. I fear those days are gone.
I still put her down for her nap at 1:00. We're lucky, though, if she can make it to 3:00. And there have been quite a few days where she doesn't even go to sleep at 1:00; she sings and messes around until about 2:00. And at night, I put her down at 7:00 and again she sings and plays until 8:00 or 8:30 or 9:00. Of course at night I go in her room, sometimes more than once, to tell her to stop playing and go to sleep. She then asks to go potty. We do, she does, and I put her back to bed.
Is this related to potty training, or would this have happened anyway, because she's two?
And here is the big question: when I put her down at 7:00, she is honestly content. I've toyed with the idea of putting her down later because she seems to not be ready for sleep, but she really does enjoy being by herself and playing with her bed buddies. Is it okay to still put her to bed at 7:00 and let her have fun alone time, or do I need to keep her up? Of course if I keep her up I can't get anything done. My concern is that she will be sharing a room with the baby, and I don't want her disturbing her sister. But maybe I should just cross that bridge when I come to it, and let her sing her little heart out in her room by herself.
What time do your kids go to bed? And am I setting a bad precedent for letting her play in her bed before she goes to sleep?
