I don't know what the deal is, but all of a sudden I'm filled with all sorts of crafty ideas. I told you one already: the hair bow idea. I fully intend to follow through on that one as my project in August. It seems like something I should be able to handle.
My latest one today, though, I'm not too sure on the follow through. It all started with Honey Pie and the fact that lately she is a veritable volcano of vomit. (Okay, fine, it's really just baby spit up, but "vomit" fit so nicely with the alliteration.) When Pumpkin Pie was born I received a lovely set of three burp cloths made from cloth diapers (the old, fold them yourself kind like your mom probably remembers.) They were simply trimmed in pretty ribbon. And they are my favorite burp cloths because of how much they absorb. I know my friend bought them somewhere, but I don't know how much she paid for them since they were a gift.
Today, as I was holding the cloth up to Honey Pie's mouth while the spit up was pouring out, I thought to myself, "This is just ribbon and a diaper. I could do this." They would make fabulous baby gifts. And heck, I might be able to sell them or something. I've even gone so far as to look up online how much plain old cloth diapers are.
Here's my problem: I'd need a sewing machine. I've borrowed my mom's before, but this seems like something I'd need to have my own for. I've even looked on craigslist for one. I don't know if $50 is a good deal for one or not. Also, would I really make so many that I'd need my own machine?
I'm still intrigued by the idea, though. Not really ready to add it to my goal list for the year. But I'm definitely looking into it.
