Book Review: Up, Down or Sideways
Sometimes I wish I were an entrepreneur. Those people seem awesome. They are always bursting with ideas and energy to see if they can make them happen. I lack ideas and I definitely lack energy. So I signed up to read Up, Down or Sideways by Mark Sanborn, a noted speaker on leadership.
Up, Down or Sideways address the fact that you typically find yourself in one of these three categories at any given point in your life. Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down and sometimes you are completely sideways and don't know which way is up or down. Mark found himself like that the year he was diagnosed with cancer, his business plummeted, and his investments tanked. He began to wonder if it were possible to create sustainable success. This book is about mind-sets and methods that enable people to succeed at whatever phase of life they are in.
I suppose this book is good enough. I'm not sure what I was hoping it would do for me. Maybe light a fire under me, and turn me into some kind of crazy, risk-taker who is not afraid of failure. It didn't do that for me. It's an easy enough read, I suppose. If you're into motivational business books, I'd say give it a shot. Borrow it from the library. If you're looking for a book to turn you into someone who loves motivational business books, this isn't it.
Tyndale House Publishers provided me with a free copy of this book as a part of their blogger book review program.
