You know, if I really applied myself, I bet I could write for 31 days about tater tot casserole. Just searching tater tot casserole will bring up more than 31 variations. And maybe over the course of our 10 years of marriage I've actually made tater tot casserole 31 different ways. Because every time I come across a recipe, I feel compelled to try it.
Here's the thing: they all taste the same. They all have same the basic elements (meat, tots, cheese, cream of soup) and are baked. But I always feel like this one minor detail will blow our minds. It never does, but I enjoy them.
Since I'm not a cooking type, I rejected 31 Days of Tater Tot Casserole because I couldn't give you 31 original recipes. But here are a couple we've had:
This is our most recent meal. The girls would not eat it. I don't know why. I thought it was delicious (like all the rest). But I recommend it, despite the poor reviews of the littles.
Crock Pot Cheesy Chicken, Bacon & Tater Tot Bake
Or as I like to call it, Chicken Tot Crock Pot. I generally frown upon any chicken recipes in the crock pot, but the tots and the bacon helped improve it in my eyes.
And here a few I most definitely plan to try:
Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole
We dig sloppy joes. This recipe calls for Manwich, which is what I grew up eating, so this dish will be full of nostalgia (or just taste like all the others.)
Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole
This one boasts being a casserole made without cream of soups. I'm skeptical, but the promise of lots of cheese makes it worth a shot.
Tater Tot Casserole
Ranch dressing? Yes. French fried onions? Yes.
Need I go on? Definitely not for 31 days.
